How to protect yourself from advertising

Post by MoushiAkter »

Five people reported having dreams about the brand's soda and beer. Harvard psychologist Deirdre Barrett participated in the recording.

In 2015, scientists found that drug users showed higher levels of craving when they dreamed about their addiction. The researchers believe that Molson Coors customers may experience a similar effect.

According to a study by the American Marketing Association in phone number list New York, 77% of advertisers in the US intend to start using technology to influence dreams by 2024. The group of scientists said that one of the authors of the letter has already been approached by “big players” from the technology and tourism sectors.

Scientists believe that advertising campaigns can enter the unconscious and begin to influence the user without warning. They are also concerned that society will not protest against advertisers' "intrusion" into dreams.

“They’re trying to push an addictive drug. They can amplify the advertising by using sleep as a weapon.” — Robert Stickgold, cognitive neuroscientist and professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

According to Stickgold, Alexa and its counterparts in smart devices could sell advertising time at night, allowing companies to covertly influence customers' interests and desires, for example by saying keywords associated with alcohol or music.

To avoid this, scientists propose banning any attempts to manipulate people in their sleep.

Stickgold noted that in 2021, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission already restricts subliminal advertising, such as prohibiting the use of repeated words or images in movies or TV shows. Therefore, supplementing existing laws could help combat the influence on dreams.
