Mommy influencers

Post by Bappy11 »

In some videos you can see that the children are playing along, so the video is staged. This is also the case with the first video I share in this article, by Derek Hensley. These types of videos naturally have less impact on the child itself, but can still be harmful . In this way, these types of videos can encourage other parents to make real kidshaming videos.

Besides the reason to punish a child in this way, there are also parents who make these kinds of videos to b2b email list score likes. There is also a term for this: mommy influencers (although they are certainly not always mothers). Where is the line between using and abusing children?

An example of this is Claire, Maxime Meiland's daughter. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment has already reprimanded the program Chateau Meiland . Claire is only allowed to appear on TV five times a year. But these kinds of rules do not (yet) exist for social media. I think we should protect children better against this.

Request permission?
If parents put you on social media as a child, you often want to have it taken down as soon as possible as a teenager or adult. But as soon as a photo or video is put on a social media channel, it is difficult to take down posts that circulate online. This is especially true for posts that go viral.

You can’t ask permission from a baby or young child. So how do we deal with this? I’m curious to hear your thoughts on kidshaming. Is it okay? Or is it a no-go?
