That's right. Yes, I see you even have a degree in geography. That's very funny.

Steven:

Yes, that's true. I'm one of the only people who has used a geography degree in the real world.

Jeroen:

That’s right. So you studied geography. I see you also did an MBA and ended up working in sales, in some way, and then you combined those two fields by creating Badger Maps.

Steven:

It’s true, and it’s a weird path. went into jiangsu cell phone number list sales. It’s not usually that academic of a path and you don’t need an MBA to start a career in sales. In particular, MBAs from top schools tend to do things that you needed an MBA for, right? So, iBanking or consulting or things like that, but I went into sales because it appealed to me. The customer interaction. The clear goals. The doing things, very tangible things. There are things in sales that people avoid because there’s so much transparency, it’s so easy to judge with real numbers how this person is doing. There’s no way to fudge the numbers.

Steven:

So I think it's one of the best careers to start if you want to run a business because a lot of what we do as a business leader is sales, whether it's selling to employees, whether it's selling to investors, whether it's selling to customers. I think being a CEO is more of a sales job than anything else.

Jeroen:

Yeah, no, exactly. I went to business school myself and I remember we had a career day of sorts and alumni came in to give testimonials and there was this guy, I forget his name or where he sold but he was telling the exact same story. He was like, okay, you all go to business school and I know sales is probably not the first thing that comes to mind, but there's really a lot of value in doing it and getting that experience will prepare you to run a business in a proper way.
