More flexible web forms

Post by asimd23 »

Custom logo, support for linking columns and pre-filled fields
The rating column is just one of several new features that make SeaTable's web forms even better. Embedding your own logo is the most striking new feature in the form editor. A logo or lettering inserted in the top left corner creates an individualized form with a recognition effect.

Less noticeable, but all the more important in europe rcs data use, is the function added in SeaTable 2.0 to use link columns in forms. This column type offers significantly more flexibility than single selection columns and thus allows even more detailed surveys.

Completely invisible in the editor, but all the more powerful in use, is the default value function for form fields. To prefill a form field with a default value, add '?prefill_COLUMNNAME=PREFILLVALUE' to the form URL. (COLUMNNAME is the name of the column whose field is to be filled; PREFILLVALUE is the value to be inserted. Spaces in column names are to be written as “%20” and the case is sensitive.) Of course, several form fields can also be given default values. For this purpose, several COLUMNNAME-PREFILLVALUE pairs are connected with the ampersand (“&”).

Column type #24: Geoposition
The map plugin makes displaying a geographic distribution a matter of seconds. The plugin interprets addresses and other location descriptions and plots them on a Google Map. In some cases, however, location descriptions are simply not precise enough. Worse still, location descriptions can change over time. All these considerations led us to make the geolocation column the 24th column type in SeaTable.
