A few days ago, Twitter launched the "Moments" feature for all its users , including those in Spain, thus opening up the "reserve" that since October 2015 had been reserved for a few influencers and brands, and Twitter's own editorial team.
For now, it's only available in Spain on the web , not whatsapp number list on the mobile app (so if you're reading this from Spain, don't look for the lightning bolt tab at the bottom of your device, because it doesn't exist yet). But the app update for iOS and Android is expected to arrive on mobile soon. And for all intents and purposes, Twitter Moments is here.
In short: the ability to group tweets from different users into a single “story”, combining different formats: text link, photo, gif, video… This is a feature that gives special relevance to the visual element of the tweet and encourages reader interaction : the user can go from one tweet to another by simply sliding their finger (on the mobile version) or scrolling (on the web version), and can also retweet, reply, share, send via direct message and “Like” the tweet that generated the “Moment”, or each of the individual tweets it contains.
Ultimately, Twitter Moments is a step forward in the ability to create new digital narratives . The result is a "story" whose "construction," however, should not be confused with Instagram Stories or Snapchat : Twitter Moments are not ephemeral (they remain indefinitely) and are generated from content previously published on the platform, which is "collected" into Moments.
Nor should we be misled by their name: Twitter Moments aren't necessarily tied to a specific event or fact; it's the user who creates them who decides what the unifying element is.
But how do you create a "Moment" on Twitter? Here's a step-by-step guide to doing it on the web.
