The energy transition is one of the most urgent issues of the 21st century, being fundamental to mitigating the impacts of climate change and promoting cleaner and more efficient economic development.
In this context, Brazil took a significant step by approving the Energy Transition Acceleration Program (Paten), through Bill No. 327/2021 , recently approved by the Federal Senate.
But what is this program, what are its objectives and how does it impact different sectors of the economy?
What is the Energy Transition Acceleration Program?
Paten is an initiative that aims to accelerate the senegal mobile database replacement of polluting energy sources with renewable alternatives, contributing to the decarbonization of the Brazilian energy matrix.
The program, authored by federal deputy Christino Áureo (PP-RJ) and reported in the Senate by Laércio Oliveira (PP-SE), establishes financial, regulatory and incentive mechanisms to stimulate investments in renewable energies, such as solar, wind, biomass and biogas, in addition to technologies for clean fuels, such as green hydrogen.

Managed by the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), the program also provides for the creation of the Green Fund, a financial tool designed to facilitate access to resources for sustainable initiatives.
Why talk about energy transition?
The energy transition is not only an environmental necessity; it is also an economic and social strategy. Dependence on fossil fuels, in addition to contributing to global warming, leaves countries vulnerable to price fluctuations on the international market .
