The Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities discovered by Google Project Zero specialists, caused by hardware features of the branch prediction unit in modern processors, affected the interests of not only the IT industry, but also millions of users. These vulnerabilities are so serious that in addition to updating operating systems, it is necessary to replace individual parts of the code for drivers, browsers, compilers, antiviruses, and even replace the microcode for processors.

The update was released for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update version 1709, it does not work with other versions of the OS. According to the company, most users will receive updates directly from motherboard and other hardware manufacturers, the update it offers will provide an additional level of security.
