What determines good rhetoric: the HOW or the WHAT?

Post by asimj1 »

Many consultants focus on the "how" of communicating and hone the way clients present themselves. Others train primarily the "what", the argumentation and the message management and are convinced that the content is everything. In everyday communication processes, it is not only the "how" and the "what" that are decisive, but also the "who": the personality and reputation of a person have a great influence.

An article in the Tagesanzeiger in a "rhetoric" series thailand rcs data gives the impression that down-to-earth Swiss rhetoric has had its day and that Céderic Wermuth scored points because he was able to enrage his opponent. A PR consultant quoted says that the packaging is everything. Wermuth is praised because he did not address the arguments, because he mainly talked to the moderator rather than to the opponent. Wermuth scored points because he dismissed the opponent with mocking comments.

We disagree. A good rhetorician convinces the addressee. Anyone who stubbornly drones on with his claims, does not listen and only provokes and dismisses the other person is not credible. A good communicator can present his arguments in a clear and credible way. While sensationalism can be impressive in the short term, it can also be recognized by laypeople.
