President and Chairman of the Board of PJSC Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) Vyacheslav Nikolaev reported that the operator has completed the first tests of its own base station in real conditions and a hundred such stations will begin operating by the end of 2024.

PJSC MTS previously owned 100% of the authorized capital of the new domestic base station developer Irtea LLC, which was created in March 2021. This company received its current name in December 2022, and before that it was called MTS Electronics.

According to datakartoteka.ruSince armenia whatsapp number database January 24, 2024, 50% of the shares of Irtea LLC belong to Advanced Technologies LLC, an investment fund created by Alexey Kalinin and his wife Marina Ivanova.

was the head of the NTI Competence Center based at Skoltech for wireless communication technologies and the Internet of Things, became the CEO of Irtea.

The Irtea press service told a ComNews correspondent that the base stations were developed for LTE and 5G networks; for final debugging of the solution, a pre-production batch of 100 base stations for the Moscow region will be deployed in the MTS network in the summer of 2024; the full line of solutions will support all Russian mobile communication ranges.

"Production plans for 2024 include setting up and debugging production. In 2025-2026, the first serial batches of several thousand base stations per year will be released. The launch of a large series, estimated at 15-20 thousand units per year, is planned for 2027," added a representative of the Irtea press service.

According to the roadmap "Modern and promising mobile networks" for the period up to 2030, MTS is going to allocate 5.6 billion rubles for the development of telecom equipment and receive another 5.4 billion in budget financing in the period from 2023 to 2026.

"Irtea is carrying out all work on the roadmap in full and in accordance with the schedule signed with the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media. There are no problems with the planned budget financing," the Irtea press service claims.

According to Irtea, the base stations and software were created by domestic engineers and developers; production is also Russian - it includes the assembly of printed circuit boards, the manufacture of individual passive electronic components, housings and some other components.

"The majority of the electronic component base (ECB), especially the microelectronics for the radio module, is almost entirely foreign. We are working with Russian ECB developers to gradually replace foreign elements with domestic ones, subject to compliance with strict price parameters and technical requirements. In carrier-class base stations, it is in principle impossible to reduce the quality or stability of the component base characteristics. For example, we expect that our partners will make progress in the part of domestic amplifier modules for base station transceivers within a reasonable time frame. The release of the first batches using domestic components can be expected in 2027," the Irtea press service reported.
