For the first time, everyone was saying they were committed to making Black Lives Matter a reality. BUT that's not a big deal.
Declarations are a start, but they are not enough and may seem false. However, there is greater awareness and many initiatives have evolved in these two years. Therefore, companies can have a positive impact on the marketing industry.
What impact do organizations like the Black Marketers Association of America (BMAA) and the African-American Marketing Association (AAMA) have on fostering representation in the industry?
Before 2017, there was no African American professional organization dedicated to marketers, so it's amazing to have so many options today.
One of the first priorities of Black professional organizations like BMAA is to be a community, a safe space, and to empower their marketers to reach their potential and be leaders if they choose to.
