Summary of in-app responses from various companies during the state of emergency declaration
My name is Matsuoka and I am in charge of sales marketing.

There is only one week left until the linkedin database initial deadline for the state of emergency declared in response to the spread of COVID-19.

Attention is focused on whether it will be extended or not.

As many stores are shortening their opening hours and taking measures to prevent infection, how can such important information be conveyed quickly and clearly through apps, which are an important touchpoint with consumers?

This time, we investigated how each company posts ads within their apps.

In the second half of this article, we will also introduce the differences in the way the apps are displayed from the front as well as the differences in the mechanisms behind them, touching on the four types: Native, WebView, PWA, and App Clip.

The apps we checked this time mainly notified users in the following four ways.

Pattern 1: Display a banner on the app homepage and deliver it via a notification message
Pattern 2: Display each store's announcement on its own page
Pattern 3: Displayed in the in-app notification message
Pattern 4: Push notification

Below we summarize the good points of each and the innovations each company has made.

Pattern 1: Display a banner on the app homepage and deliver it via a notification message
This is the pattern that I found to be the easiest and most thorough.

When I first launched the app, a sliding banner appeared at the top of the screen displaying "Store business status information," and an in-app notification message also appeared notifying me of changes in business hours.

■ Target app
: GINZA SIX app

Pattern 2: Display each store's announcement on its own page
I think this pattern was common for companies with many branches across the country, as each store has different business hours.

Also, in the case of the banner type, images with only text in eye-catching colors were impressive.

■Applicable apps
: Mitsui Shopping Park app
, Seibu Sogo app
, Taito app

Pattern 3: Displayed in the in-app notification message
The number of lines in the notification message patterns differed.

Companies are making efforts to encourage people to read their messages by displaying a notification mark when there are unread messages and by increasing the number of paths to messages.
