Neurolinguistic Programming is a field that encompasses communication, psychology and personal development. It was developed based on studies conducted at the University of California in the 1980s. The authors Richard Bandler and John Grider aimed to understand how people act, think and communicate.
Based on NLP, managers and teachers, for example, were encouraged to make better use of their brains to achieve the results they wanted from their employees or students. The roots of the theory attest to the connection between neurological processes, our language and the patterns of behavior that are learned through our life experiences.
According to the authors, it is possible to change these processes to obtain specific information (absorb knowledge), model skills and achieve life goals. NLP techniques are common resources in lectures on sales, motivation, group work and also in coaching processes.
The importance of the concepts of andragogy and lifelong education
It is no surprise that children are not the only jordan whatsapp data educational focus of our society. Education aimed at adults is nothing new (as you can see in other posts on our blog ), however, Andragogy is something much less known than Pedagogy.
Andragogy was developed during the 1970s. It was during the third UNESCO Convention on Adult Education that it was presented as a permanent educational process for adults.
It was in the wake of these debates that the concept of lifelong learning also emerged. The model aims to seek constant individual development, seeking to overcome obstacles that impede self-realization.
Andragogy aims to prepare adults, especially young people, to respond positively to the demands of life, which are subject to constant change, given the speed at which the world is changing. The evolution of society and its ongoing modernization require people to develop throughout their lives.
It is worth noting that Andragogy also aims to replace the current educational model, whose main goal is to combat illiteracy. In the system proposed by the theory, education is more complex. It would be inserted into a system that improves formative, cultural, social and labor knowledge throughout all stages of people's education.
Brazilian context of development of education in the information society
Brazil was no exception and followed most of the changes that occurred around the world. The context of development of the information society followed the same progression, with major milestones being the democratization of mass media: radio, television and, later, the internet.
Currently, Brazil is the 4th country with the highest number of active internet users , and is also one of the countries that spends the most time online. This context of high connectivity provides a broad basis for the continuity of the information society.
Technology and learning in Brazil
Returning to the development of education in this context, let us go back to 1961. In that year, the Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education was enacted. After the formulation of education in the country, initiatives for teaching and training for adults began to emerge.
One of the pioneers was Professor Pierre Weil, from UFMG. He combined training techniques in human relations into a training program for business leaders and managers. The professor used well-known methods, such as sensitivity laboratories, and combined processes similar to socioanalysis to develop the first steps of his study.
Research in the same direction as that carried out by Pierre Weil was developed at other Brazilian universities, in Rio Grande do Sul, Rio de Janeiro and Bahia.
