The eBay trading exchange and the brands are constantly at odds. Now the German Brands Association (Markenverband) has issued a statement warning against the liberalisation of the online trade of branded goods. The statement says that "branded goods manufacturers want to continue to be able to sell their products only through specialist retailers 99 acres data instead of randomly on the Internet. The Brands Association is in favour of the proven European competition regulations being maintained in this area, which is also in the interests of consumers."

The statement by the Markenverband is in response to an initiative by eBay, which has collected signatures online and submitted them to the European Union Parliament to request the removal of what eBay considers to be restrictions on online commerce. Manufacturers of branded goods consider this petition to be an infringement of their sovereignty over their brands.

The controversy is centered on the unauthorized sale of luxury brand items on eBay . Luxury brands have always been very careful about the distribution channels and sales prices of their products, including online. But this is not the case for eBay, which has received several complaints for allowing the sale of these products by unauthorized sellers. According to the Financial Times Deutschland , eBay's director Alex von Schirmeister, "our users are calling on politicians to change European competition law so that such unfair trade practices are no longer possible."
