One way to do this is to use the Keyword Overview tool .

For example, enter the keyword "pet food" into the tool to see what the intent of the keyword is.

The keyword preview tool shows a "commercial" intent for "pet food".
In this example, the intent is commercial. Meaning the user wants to do some research before deciding on their purchase.

So your content should cover the information they would need to make their decision. Like product reviews and product comparison.
