"The West has stopped supplying weapons, so unarmed mobilized "with shovels" will be thrown to block the front with their bodies."
Foreign Minister D. Kuleba's phrase about a war with shovels is a figurative expression aimed at a Western audience - where the provision of military assistance to Ukraine has indeed slowed down recently. But this does not mean at all that mobilized people will be sent to "acquire weapons in battle", as my grandfather Prokop Savich and millions of other Red Army soldiers were sent in the summer of 1941.
Yes, the lack of a certain range of ammunition is already noticeable to the naked eye in special database the troops.
But, firstly, as we see in the recent example of Avdiivka, the lack of ammunition leads to the loss of territories, not people. We will definitely return the land. You will not return the people. Even from a purely pragmatic point of view, the General Staff understands that we will have to fight with the human resources that we currently have. Given the current mood in society and the Verkhovna Rada , a significant replenishment of the army is a rather illusory prospect.
Secondly, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are quite creative and effective in using existing weapons to replace the missing ones. From French "Caesars" on a barge to the widespread use of strike drones in conditions of a shortage of artillery shells (by the way, the production of Ukraine's own 152-mm shells increased 2.5 times last year).
Thirdly, the mobilized are not only waiting for combat units. As you can see on military job sites , the army also needs hundreds of firefighters, cooks, drivers, accountants, business analysts, electricians, turners, bulldozer operators, chemists, and clerks.
