Hiding the likes on your own posts is simple. You post the post, click on the three dots at the top right of the post and then you can click on 'Hide number of likes'. Once you have clicked on that, it will no longer say 'Sanne and 154 others like this', but 'Sanne and others like this' under your post. It is still possible to click on and 'others' and count them manually.
You can also set this for posts that have already been published, and you can also undo the setting (in the same way). So you could decide to hide the likes of posts with few likes, and show them for posts with many likes. But who are you kidding?

Despite the fact that they have been testing the likes for over two years, the negative reactions have not country email list deterred them. Facebook has 3 important reasons to continue with the developments.
1. The user in control
Facebook wants its users to be more 'in control' of their own experience with the platform. By making hiding likes optional, and by offering not just one or two but four options, each user can decide for themselves what they find important.
Hiding likes isn't the only update Facebook is rolling out to keep users in control. Facebook writes :
' That's why we announced new tools to allow people to filter offensive content from their DMs and give people ways to control what they see and share on Facebook's News Feed — like the Feed Filter Bar, Favorites Feed and Choose Who Can Comment .'
With all these new options, you can customize Facebook and Instagram more and more to your own needs.
2. End of the battle for popularity
In addition, they want to put an end to the battle for popularity. By hiding the number of likes, they want to reduce the pressure to score well with your post. There are users who are going even further for that. For example, by posting crazy stunts, participating in dangerous challenges or by showing more and more of your body.
