Are you tracking your website traffic from different sources? How is your email doing?
Since I put a lot of emphasis on SEO for my articles, I get a lot of people coming to me organically. However, when I look at my website traffic graphs, I can reliably tell it's Thursday. I send emails and the curve always jumps.
I monitor openness, even though I know from the panel discussion at the Stars of E-mailing conference that the data is distorted. So I'm more interested in comparisons with other campaigns than absolute numbers. I don't monitor clicks for canapés, because those who were lucky with the algorithm on LI and FB don't have to click anymore. Of course, I also monitor instagram database whether readers click for articles, invitations, and sales emails. And for sales offers, I monitor the number of orders. On the contrary, I don't bother with unsubscribing at all anymore. It's natural that a person simply grows out of a topic or ceases to be relevant to it. At least someone who unsubscribes doesn't lower the statistics or damage the domain's reputation.
How long does it take you to create one newsletter and how much time do you spend on emailing in general?
I think of newsletters more as invitations to something else and I send them when I have something to say. So it primarily takes me some time to create what I'm going to invite (canapes, an article, an interview, a conference paper, new products and their sales pages).
Creating a newsletter is not so difficult because I use recycling . I use perexes of articles, excerpts from sales pages, etc. I think about the newsletter in the background a few days in advance. I sort through the ideas in my head and then writing it is usually a matter of less than an hour. The ideal is to write the email in advance and let it sit for a few days. But I am rarely disciplined enough. A separate chapter are emails within campaigns. They take more time because I have to look at the same thing from different angles. It goes faster if I create several emails at once.
Do you track email marketing results? What is the main metric for you?
