So of course, a warning as usual, already the list is not exhaustive, we could have chosen many other things, many other anecdotes related to the Eiffel Tower, and these are anecdotes, stories, which have been a little condensed and simplified. We often simplify this kind of story to make them a little more accessible. So today is a somewhat light video to solidify your culture, your knowledge of France and to practice your listening comprehension.

First surprising fact, I discovered it myself while preparing this video, it is the secret apartment. When he designed the tower, Gustave Eiffel imagined a small apartment that he reserved uk whatsapp number data for himself, not to sleep in, but there is a small secret apartment in the Eiffel Tower. Gustave Eiffel used it as an office to work, to think, even as a laboratory and he invited some famous people to come and visit him in this secret office, including Thomas Edison.

This apartment remained a great secret of Gustave Eiffel for a very long time. Many people were not aware of its existence. To respect his wishes, it is forbidden to enter this office to visit it, but it is possible to see inside. We are outside the office and we can see what it looks like.

Second surprising fact, a temporary project, the Eiffel Tower was built for the 1889 World's Fair. The idea was to show off the technical and industrial prowess of the country. The initial plan was to destroy it, to dismantle it, after 20 years. So, it was ultimately supposed to remain until 1909 and then be dismantled and removed. But Gustave Eiffel had the genius to prove the usefulness of the tower as an antenna. So, in the end, it was decided to keep it, leave it in place and use it. It hasn't moved since.
