Security Tales: iPhone Scams
Vladimir Bezmaly | 09.28.2018
- Potapych, can you help? I'm a fool!
— Yes, I wanted to sell my old iPhone, pay extra and buy a new one.
- A normal desire, but what happened?
- Yes, I decided, you fool, to make money! They told me - take it to the store, pay the difference and sleep peacefully, but no, I decided that I would sell it myself, I would earn more.
- Indeed, more, why?
- Yes, I'm telling you, you fool! I should have at least luxembourg whatsapp data you! But I decided that I could handle it myself!
- So what happened?
— Yes, some guy wrote to me, introduced himself as a buyer, started chatting with me on WhatsApp and suddenly said that he had problems, like his iCloud doesn’t work with all models.
- What nonsense?
- Yeah, now I understand that it’s nonsense, but back then...
- And what happened next?
— Then he asked me to check his account, sent me the login and password. And after I entered this information on my phone, he wrote that he blocked my phone and offered me to pay him to unblock my cell phone through the electronic payment system Qiwi.
— Did you call the police?
- Yes! They said that I am far from the first such fool. And that they, of course, will try to help me, but they don’t know whether it will work or not. God, what a fool I am!!!
In fact, a similar scam took place not so long ago in Kazakhstan. So be careful with strangers.
