Of course, what I'm telling you depends on the type of business you have, your resources, your clients, your client projections and your real needs. As you've already seen, international SEO is full of " it depends ", but that's why we started talking about the subject, to find the paths that are most favorable to you.
Among these depends, there are some unalterable principles that are good to understand now so that you can begin to plan your expansion:
When I talk about principles, I am referring to those fundamental aspects that must be taken into account no matter what. If your interest is clearly directed towards speaking to new countries through the Internet, here is what you should know:
1. Keywords between regions:
Do the following exercise: enter Google for your country using the incognito window. For example, 99 acres data if your country is Colombia: google.co, if it is Chile: google.cl. Each country has its specific Google domain. Then, take one of your keywords and search for it in two different Google domains . It often happens that the same keyword with the same content ranks in different places.
I did the exercise too! Although I used SEMRush to make the search more precise and these were my results for: Search Engines.
For the Google.mx result I am, apparently, in second place:
I did the same search for Google.es (Spain) and I am ranked first:
What is the reason for this? Many factors! For example: keyword traffic, the relevance of the keywords in each country, the way users search, among others.
If you look at my example, the percentage of searches in Mexico for the keyword Search Engines is higher than in Spain. Perhaps in Mexico the first place responds better to the keyword than my article and in Spain, it is very likely that people do not search exactly for Search Engines, hence the percentage of searches is lower.
