They were created almost three decades ago and have become a standard service in almost all sectors that operate directly with the public. The QR code is a minimum requirement for companies with promotional intentions.
With the restrictions imposed due to the health crisis, this type of technology is now gaining ground as a tool that allows important information to be offered to customers without the need to physically interact with them.
Today at MÁSMÓVIL Negocios we review the history of the QR code and explain how any company that wants one can obtain one.

What is a QR code?
Short for Quick Response Code , QR is the evolution of the traditional barcode still found in much of the commercial activity.
In technical terms, it would be a costa rica number data module that stores information in a matrix of points or in a two-dimensional barcode .
This encryption is read by a mobile device or a specific reader, and allows external hardware to connect to a URL that has previously been associated with the code .
Black and white are usually used to make up the matrix, as they are the colours that contrast best with each other, although it is also possible to make it with other shades.
This flexibility in format also applies to dimensions, with up to ten different versions (21 x 21 or 177 x 177 modules). The larger the size, the greater the amount of information, although the most widely used codes are 25 x 25 and 29 x 29 .
His story
By the late 1980s, bar codes were implemented throughout the value chain: manufacturing, distribution and sales . However, the industry had reached a state of technological development that required a new system .
The traditional code had a significant storage limitation, and the move from mass manufacturing to horizontal and flexible manufacturing did not favor it.
In 1992, the Toyota Group commissioned Denso , a subsidiary dedicated to the production of barcode scanners and OCR devices , to develop tools capable of reading more quickly.
Engineer Masahiro Hara then led a team with two other experts to try to come up with a new reader capable of responding to the growing demand for information. But he soon realised that it was impossible.
This is how the germ of the QR code began to take shape : an adaptation of the traditional barcode, which added the "location" dimension and reduced the surface area of the matrix with greater capacity .
The new system could read codes faster, and shortened manufacturing times at Toyota plants. Two decades later, this idea is present in all sectors, with millions of registered users .
How do I get a custom QR code?
Cards, receipts, logos, letters ... They had a golden age at the beginning of the last decade, which was followed by a period of skepticism that still persists in 2020. Does the QR code really work ?
Marketing experts are still divided, but there is consensus on its use; without reliable returns, the investment required to implement it is minimal . And that already makes it interesting.
All you need is a website or a site to redirect to, and a minimum of knowledge to know how to use the tools offered by developers on the web.
