nternational E-Waste Day 2021
Today's International E-Waste Day is intended to raise public awareness of the correct handling of used electrical devices in order to achieve a higher recycling rate overall. Unfortunately, globally only around 17% of old electrical devices are correctly collected and recycled - so there is an urgent need for education in this area. The campaign day was launched in 2018 by the WEEE Forum and is attracting attention and recognition worldwide.

Properly recycled old electrical devices are fundamental to a functioning circular economy. Waste prevention through the continued use or reuse of electrical devices that are still functional is just as important as the proper collection and disposal of old electrical devices. Many electrical devices lebanon gambling data that are still functional, such as smartphones, are "stored" instead of being continued or reused. Old electrical devices that are no longer functional or are broken are often disposed of incorrectly, for example in household waste, or given to illegal collectors, so that the raw materials they contain cannot be recovered.

Since 2019, the ear foundation, as the joint body of manufacturers, has been informing people about the correct handling of old electrical devices as part of its statutory information mandate. For this purpose, the Plan E awareness campaign was launched, which reaches people nationwide and is intended to ensure that the proper disposal of e-waste is significantly increased, climate-positive behavior is initiated and the specified collection rate is achieved in the long term. Plan E is intended to bring about a rethink - the hoarding of discarded electrical devices is to be stopped. If the devices are no longer needed, can no longer be repaired or can no longer be given away, they are e-waste and should be disposed of correctly. It is therefore important to separate yourself from old devices and let go - because actually every day is E-Waste Day.
