The decision to transfer the analytical reporting system to a foreign platform raises concerns among experts.

The new system is the result of joint work of specialists and managers of SSC and experts of "KORUS Consulting". The companies analyzed the sources of information used in regular meetings, designed the structure of the data storage system, set up their automated loading from several sources and MS Excel files to the data warehouse, and also developed interactive analytical panels (dashboards) with the main indicators of the company's activity. A ComNews correspondent contacted both companies for comments, but at the time of writing the article there was no response.

Microsoft has begun to switzerland whatsapp resourcedisconnect Russian customers from its cloud products
Microsoft Corporation began disconnecting Russian corporate clients from its cloud products on May 16 - restrictions have already affected, for example, subscriptions to the Power BI product. This was reported in the Softline Group chat for customers. The Russian company has been in dialogue with Microsoft since the disconnections were announced.

Deputy CEO for Science and Development at IVK JSC Valery Andreev called this decision a risky move for one of the key participants in the Russian oilfield services market and the owner of critical information infrastructure. According to the expert, no one can guarantee that tomorrow SSC will not be cut off from support from Microsoft, which has repeatedly terminated contracts unilaterally over the past two years, and even more so no one can guarantee that Microsoft BI does not have any backdoors built in, similar to those found by Kaspersky Lab in Microsoft Exchange, which could be used by attackers for espionage and sabotage.

"The risks increase if Microsoft BI is used in tandem with Windows OS, support for which has also been discontinued in the Russian Federation, and users do not receive vulnerability updates," says Valery Andreev.

Rustem Khairutdinov, Deputy General Director of the Garda Group of Companies, shares a similar point of view: "Microsoft is unlikely to distribute malware. But there are risks that hackers will take advantage of vulnerabilities associated with the fact that the manufacturer's software in Russia is not updated and not supported."

Oleg Ivchenkov, CEO of TBI LLC (SETERE Group), agrees with them: "The risk of being instantly disconnected remains the main one. In addition, we must understand that the country can oblige the use of domestic software if it considers that foreign software does not meet information security requirements."

Force of habit or no rush?

SSC is not the only company using foreign software. Lyudmila Bogatyreva, head of the IT department of the Polylog agency and author of the GOS IT Bogatyreva Telegram channel, said that about 60-70% of BI solutions on the Russian market are products of foreign vendors, which include MS Power BI, Qlik Sense, SAP BI, etc. "MS Power BI is one of the most used solutions in this class," said Lyudmila Bogatyreva.
