How many subscribers can be disconnected?

Post by tanjimajuha20 »

Roskomnadzor has found 9 million SIM cards with outdated personal data. If their owners do not confirm the information in the coming days, they should be disconnected from communications. The check has not yet covered all subscribers in the country.

A representative of the agency told RBC that Roskomnadzor has identified more than 9 million SIM cards with problems with personal data. Of these, operators have already clarified the data for 440 thousand, he said.

The requirement that subscribers guatemala whatsapp resource provide their passport data to the operator has been in effect in Russia since June 2018, but the amendments introducing large fines for such violations only came into force in March of this year: for legal entities, they range from 1 million to 2 million rubles. In addition, Roskomnadzor only introduced a system for automated verification of subscriber data this year, and mobile operators have been connecting to it for several months. According to a representative of Roskomnadzor, they gave operators time to update their databases: their initial monitoring has been conducted since January of this year. Since August, the agencystarted sending outoperators are required to block subscriber numbers with outdated personal data. This situation could be faced by those who received a SIM card for free without concluding a contract from promoters in crowded places, as well as those who connected to corporate SIM cards purchased en masse by companies for employees.

As a representative of Roskomnadzor explained, to date, operators have provided data on 270 million users, which is about 80% of their active subscriber base.

He explained that after receiving a notification from the department, the operator must correct the data within 15 days or stop providing services to such a number. "In case of violation of this requirement, the legislation provides for fines," says a representative of Roskomnadzor. "But the decision to block the number is made by the communications operator."

Mobile Research Group analyst Eldar Murtazin believes that of all the problematic SIM cards identified, 7-8 million owners will confirm their data. In a negative scenario, 2.5 million of them may not update their information. Murtazin believes that confirming personal data does not pose any difficulties. He noted that the "astronomical" fines for incorrect subscriber data in the system are not comparable to what the operator earns on one SIM card. This forces companies to act as the state asks and disconnect SIM cards with unknown data.
